Debra partners with Gaisce to empower young advocates for epidermolysis bullosa

We are excited to announce our new partnership with Gaisce – The President’s Award as an official Challenge Partner, aimed at inspiring young people to become advocates for those living with epidermolysis bullosa (EB). This collaboration marks a significant step in our commitment to raising awareness about EB, a painful genetic condition that affects the skin and has a profound impact on the lives of those who live with it.

As a Gaisce Challenge Partner, Debra will provide young people with a unique opportunity to engage in activities that support their personal development while making a tangible difference in the EB community. Through our Gaisce Award Programme, participants can work towards achieving their Bronze, Silver, or Gold Awards by focusing on the Personal Skill and Community Involvement Challenge Areas.

“Empowering young advocates is essential to our mission at Debra,” said Susan Woodcock, our Programme Coordinator. “We believe that by partnering with Gaisce, we can inspire the next generation to raise awareness about EB and develop the skills needed to advocate for those affected by this debilitating condition.”

The Gaisce Award encourages young people to engage in challenges that promote personal growth and community involvement. Debra’s tailored 13-week plans will provide participants with a structured approach to learning about EB, developing advocacy skills, and actively supporting fundraising and awareness efforts within their communities.

“We are thrilled to join forces with Gaisce,” added Susan. “Through this partnership, we aim to give young people the knowledge and resources they need to become champions for the EB community while achieving their personal goals.”

Young people interested in participating can download Debra’s Challenge Guide for inspiration and learn more about the activities available to them through the Gaisce Award Programme. For additional information or assistance, participants can reach out to Susan at susan.woodcock@debra.ie.
